Worship Planning Notes

(a) Images for Bulletins and Videos
Use images of drug rehabilitation clinics, with Bible verse captions, such as:

  • “Jesus give liberty to the captives.” (Isaiah 61:1)
  • “He has given me a path to life. In Your presence is fullness of joy.” (Psalm 61:1)
  • “For you were called to freedom, brothers.” (Galatians 5:13)
  • “I will not be enslaved by anything.” (1 Corinthians 6:12)
  • “Be filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18)
  • “But lead us not into temptation, but deliver us.” (Matthew 6:13a)

(b) Testimonies of Overcoming Addiction
If people are willing to share their testimonies, have selected individuals who have recovered from any type of addiction (food, alcohol. sex, drugs, etc.) briefly share their story with the congregation. If possible, include men and women and younger and older members of the congregation. Make sure that persons are given time limits and that the nature of the type of testimonies that are appropriate is made clear to each speaker weeks prior to the service.
